Rated at 15 kW (20 hp), the Atlas Copco GA15 FF (8153652139) is an oil-injected rotary screw air compressor with a dryer built in, made for light production and small industry. Part of the well-established GA 15-30 range, this industrial and workshop air compressor suits an operation that has outgrown a piston, a small fabrication or engineering shop, or a production line driving tools and machines through the working day. Where the job calls for real, steady air over hours at a stretch rather than short bursts, this is the class of machine to consider.

Free Air Delivery (FAD) is 43.5 l/s, or 92.2 cfm, at a maximum working pressure of 8.5 bar (123 psi). Being a rotary screw design, this screw air compressor runs cool and delivers clean, dry air hour after hour, and it carries a 100% continuous duty cycle rating, so it can run throughout the working day without cool-down intervals. Gear drive in place of belt drive means fewer wearing parts to tension and replace, an IE3 efficiency motor keeps consumption in check, and at 65 dB(A) the machine is quiet enough to be sited close to where people work.

As a Full Feature (FF) unit, it arrives with an integrated dryer and water separator. The dryer strips moisture out of the compressed air, protecting pipework, fittings and air tools from water damage and rust and keeping the air network dry — which removes the need to plumb in and wire up a separate downstream dryer.

The GA15 FF is a fixed-speed unit. The motor turns at a constant speed and the machine loads and unloads to hold pressure, an arrangement that suits a site where air demand stays fairly steady and high across the day. Where demand swings sharply — long idle spells broken by short heavy draws — a variable speed drive (VSD) machine tracks actual demand more closely and wastes less energy while idling. For sustained, even use, fixed speed is the simpler and more robust option.

To match the compressor to the work, total the consumption of every tool and machine likely to run together and keep that figure comfortably beneath 92.2 cfm. Work from the worst-case moment when several things draw at once, not from the single largest tool on its own, and allow some margin above that total so the unit is not working at full stretch through the day.

This is an oil-injected compressor. A small amount of oil is carried into the air stream — a typical oil content of around 2 mg/m³ — and the high-tech oil vessel is designed to keep that carry-over low. For the vast majority of general workshop and industrial work — driving tools and machines, blowing, general production — that is perfectly acceptable. It does not, however, produce oil-free air. Processes that genuinely require it, such as food and drink contact, pharmaceutical, medical or breathing air, call for an oil-free compressor from the Atlas Copco range rather than this unit with added filtration.

Confirm the power supply before ordering. The GA15 FF runs on a 400 V, 50 Hz, three-phase supply — an industrial connection, not a standard domestic or single-phase socket. Without three-phase power on site, the machine cannot operate, so check the electrical supply is right first.

Delivery is receiver mounted and ready to operate, with an onboard MK5 Swipe controller for operation and monitoring. The footprint is compact for the output, the main components are laid out for straightforward access at service time, and the unit can be moved by forklift. Cooling is by air, so allow a clean, well-ventilated space with room for airflow and for a technician to work around the machine. Keeping to the service schedule protects both long-term reliability and your warranty cover.

Where combined air demand sits comfortably below 92.2 cfm at 8.5 bar and three-phase power is available, the GA15 FF is a solid, continuous-duty choice for light production.
