GA fixed speed compressor
8153647220
The Atlas Copco GA18P (8153647220) is a floor-mounted, fixed-speed, oil-injected rotary screw air compressor built around an IE3 electric motor. In a screw compressor, a pair of precisely matched rotors (the compression element, or airend) draws in air and squeezes it continuously as they turn, while oil is injected into that element to seal, cool and lubricate it before being separated back out. The result is a steady, high-quality supply of compressed air rather than the pulsing delivery typical of a reciprocating piston machine, which makes this type well suited to workshops and production lines that need air throughout the working day. IE3 simply denotes a high-efficiency motor class, so more of the electricity you pay for turns into usable air.
This unit delivers a free air delivery of 49.5 l/s (105 cfm) at its 9.5 bar (138 psi) design pressure, and the working pressure can be set anywhere from 6 to 10 bar (87 to 145 psi) to match your demand. It belongs to the GA 15-30 family, rated for 100% continuous duty, so it is a sensible choice where a smaller compressor would be working flat out. If you are unsure whether the flow and pressure suit your tools or process, tell us your typical air consumption and we will help you size it.
Supplied as the floor-mounted Pack version, it comes as the compressor itself without an integrated dryer and without a built-in air receiver. Compressed air naturally carries moisture that condenses out downstream (the condensate), so if your application needs dry air you would pair this machine with a separate compressed air dryer and receiver from the Atlas Copco range. The compressor is air-cooled and draws roughly 0.73 m³/s of cooling air, so it needs a well-ventilated space and an ambient temperature no higher than 46 °C to run within specification.
Day-to-day operation runs through the Elektronikon Swipe (MK5) controller, which manages loading and unloading, shows service and warning indications, detects faults and will shut the compressor down to protect it, with built-in connectivity for monitoring. An automatic condensate drain, on a 1/4 inch connection, removes collected water without manual intervention, the oil system holds 12.2 litres with a typical oil carry-over in the compressed air of 2 mg/m³, and the unit runs at a mean sound pressure level of 67 dB(A). Its compact footprint measures about 1280 mm long by 780 mm wide, it stands 1220 mm high, and it is manufactured in Italy.
The GA18P runs on a three-phase 400 V, 50 Hz supply, so before you order it is worth confirming that your incoming supply and cabling are sized for it, that your outlet pipework can be brought to the spot where the machine will stand, and that the automatic drain has somewhere to discharge.
